If you are preparing for the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2027, September is a good time to move from basic reading to structured practice. The official CBSE Academic portal provides the current 2026–27 academic information and curriculum for Classes IX–XII.
CBSE Class 10 Social Science Sample Paper 2026–27: What Students Should Practise
Search demand around CBSE Class 10 sample papers, important questions, competency-based questions and map work is strong as students move into board preparation. Current education resources are publishing 2026–27 Social Science sample-paper and important-question material, showing the continuing demand for exam-pattern practice.
However, students should treat third-party “guess papers” as practice material, not as official CBSE papers. The safest foundation remains the prescribed NCERT textbooks, the official curriculum and official CBSE examination resources.
1. Start With the NCERT Textbooks
For Social Science, build your preparation around the prescribed NCERT books for History, Geography, Political Science and Economics. A Class 10 Social Science book list includes India and the Contemporary World – II, Contemporary India – II, Democratic Politics – II and Understanding Economic Development.
Do not replace textbook study with shortcuts. Use notes and question banks after you understand the chapter.
2. Practise All Major Question Formats
- MCQs and objective questions – test quick recall and concept recognition.
- Short-answer questions – practise writing precise points.
- Long-answer questions – organise answers with clear explanations and examples.
- Case/source-based questions – read the source carefully before answering.
- Map-based questions – revise locations regularly rather than leaving map work until the end.
Recent 2026–27 sample-paper resources commonly emphasise objective, short-answer, long-answer, case-based and map-based practice.

3. Focus on Competency-Based Preparation
CBSE’s current academic direction places strong emphasis on application and competency. Students should practise questions that ask them to interpret information, connect concepts, analyse a situation or apply what they have learned rather than only reproduce memorised lines.
For Social Science, try converting every chapter into five revision sections: key concepts, important events/examples, cause and effect, application-based questions, and map/source practice.
4. Use a Weekly Revision System
| Day | Practice |
|---|---|
| Monday | History concepts + 10 questions |
| Tuesday | Geography + map practice |
| Wednesday | Political Science + case-based questions |
| Thursday | Economics + application questions |
| Friday | Mixed MCQs and competency-based questions |
| Saturday | One timed section or sample-paper practice |
| Sunday | Review mistakes and revise weak chapters |
5. Don’t Ignore Map Work
Map-based preparation should be a regular part of Social Science revision wherever it is prescribed. Keep a separate map-practice notebook and revise a small set of locations repeatedly.

Final Preparation Tip
There is no shortcut that replaces consistent NCERT-based study. Read the chapter, understand the concept, practise different question formats, analyse your mistakes and then repeat the cycle. Starting this routine early gives you much more time to improve before the board examination.
